THE SALVATION ARMY FOOD PANTRY NEARLY EMPTY
CARSON CITY: The Salvation Army food pantry is barely capable of putting together complete food boxes for families.
"We have odds and ends, cans here or there, but barely enough to put together a food box," shares Captain Mark Cyr, leader of The Salvation Army in Carson City and Douglas County. "We are urgently needing the community to donate food."
The food assistance program is a part of The Salvation Army’s Emergency Assistance programs, providing food, rent and utilities to Carson City and Douglas County residents in need. “It’s a little scary because I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it this low,” says Captain Mark.
The Salvation Army is encouraging the individuals, families and companies to pick up a couple cans or boxes of non-perishables or host a food drive.
The most needed items include pasta sauce, canned fruit, canned soups, boxed meals, peanut butter and jelly. Cash donations are also needed to help The Salvation Army purchase needed items.
All items can be brought to The Salvation Army serving Carson City and Douglas County located at 661 Colorado St. Carson City, NV 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
